How Often Should You Tune a Piano?
Twice a year is the baseline for most homes. Here is how to decide what your piano actually needs.
Manufacturers recommend two tunings per year for a piano in a stable home. That figure assumes moderate playing and steady humidity, neither of which is guaranteed in North Texas.
Increase frequency if the piano is new and still settling, if it sits near a window or vent, if it is played several hours a day, or if it is used for lessons, recording or worship services. Decrease it only if the piano is genuinely unplayed, and even then tune annually so the pitch never falls far enough to need a pitch raise.
